The Animal League Photoblog

These kitties came from an animal shelter that was shut down by the New Jersey SPCA on cruelty charges. They needed rescue and we were there for all of them.

Three of our senior dogs just got adopted together!

Help Me Heal Update: Valentino has been making so much progress in his treatment. His little tan coat has just started to grow back and the pain he constantly felt on his sore skin is gone. Valentino still has a long way to go and we will be with him every step of the way until he is ready to be adopted. He is being fostered by one of our staff members and gets to enjoy the comforts of a loving home while still visiting the medical center daily for his checkups. He loves to play with puppy chew toys and has a cat-like fondness for cardboard boxes. The fear he once felt has given way to a new found enthusiasm and the kind of happiness that all puppies should have. We’ll keep you updated as his condition continues to improve.

Beth Stern - Animal Radio Interview

Our national spokesperson Beth Stern guest-hosted last week on the Animal Radio show, which airs on XM Satellite Radio and over 100 local stations. She talks about her new role as a cat foster parent and life as a shelter pet advocate.

Ever wonder what our nursery looks like? Star one of our pregnant moms is happy to show everyone around. She is a Jack Russell Terrier / Treeing Feist mix that loves to play with the Zebra toy originally for her baby Luna. Each day she gets some time to come out and play with our caretaking staff. She also gets to socialize with a Chihuahua visitor who has just had her puppies and will be getting neutered soon. Luna is her baby. She had a single, giant puppy. Her father was a huge mix breed dog three times Star’s size. The vet just finished cleaning the nursery and Luna is hungry again. A mother’s work is never done.
